people of Western Australia with the aim of developing a closer, caring
community. With over 150 employees and 11 sites across the state,
Communicare is continuing to grow. This means more help for those
in the community who need it the most.
Much more than simply a welfare service, Communicare
offers personal and family counselling, childcare, migrant settlement,
parenting programmes, employment assistance and so much more to the
people of Western Australia.
Communicare’s Board of Management features
representatives from local government, various community groups and
churches, as well as the local business sector. This diverse
group of people, along with the committed and hard-working staff at
all of the organisation’s sites, have helped Communicare become
one of the most well-known and well-respected charity organisations
in Western Australia.
Who we are
We are proud to be one of West Australia's leading charities providing an impressive portfolio of support services across three main streams; Family Services, Children Services and Employment and Training Services. We were founded and incorporated in November 1977 in response to the demand and need of local families. From this humble beginning and initiated by local service clubs, churches and community members we have expanded to become a leading best practice agency across metropolitan Perth.
Our diverse Board of Management brings over 50 years of collective experience in the areas of Financial Accounting, Health Services, Law, Small Business Management, Strategic Management and Marketing. Communicare's model of governance and service has been duplicated in many other agencies. We believe this is in recognition of our success of our model of service delivery over the past 25+ years.
Communicare is highly regarded as a service provider by funding bodies including local, state and federal governments as well as private trusts and foundations. This can be measured in the recurring financial support of diverse services over the past 25 years. Communicare have preferred provider status on all ‘state funded' services, and all federally funded programs are rated as some of the highest in the state through quality assurance and key performance management indicators. All relevant programs exceed accreditation standards for their profession, are socially responsible, and provide individually rewarding activities.
Our senior management staff have over 70 years of cumulative experience in the provision of ‘not for profit' activities. All possess Tertiary qualifications with the majority in possession of Post Graduate credentials in Psychology, Counselling, Law and Business. Communicare's professional staff participate on many Government and local community boards and committees, sharing their expertise and knowledge to facilitate capacity building at a local and state level. Our innovative models have been showcased as best practice through conferences and educational institutions, and have received widespread media coverage.
