Ben’s career has always been about providing opportunities and empowerment to the clients, students, teams and organisations he has worked with.
He has over 20 years in senior leadership and executive management roles with a service delivery and people focus across the aged care, finance, higher education, mining-engineering and utilities sectors, in addition to a decade of experience in education, employment, training operations.
This is Ben’s third role with Communicare. After first commencing as a young educator, he moved into management roles and then returned to serve as a member of the Board. Ben is currently the organisation’s Director Education, Employment and Training.
In between his time at Communicare, Ben was recognised as a young constable in the NT Police Service, receiving the Queen Elizabeth Trust award for Leadership. He also led award winning customer service operations teams at Homeloans Ltd., Silver Chain Nursing Association and Western Power.
Ben thrives on the diversity and experiences of people (students, clients, staff and volunteers) that believe and then achieve. He utilises a person centred approach based on enjoying people, the energy, the passion, the shared stories, and knowing we can always get the best results through co-creation, “Don’t talk at, talk with…..a shared problem is halved”.
A lifelong learner, Ben has completed three degrees including a Master of Education and is currently undertaking his PhD with La Trobe University. In 2015, he published his first book internationally, titled “Anyone Can Be Successful”, with helpful hints on how to stay positive.
