Leah Piper

Director of People and Brand

Leah was appointed to the role of Director People and Brand at Communicare in September 2021. Prior to that she spent almost four years working at one of WA’s largest disability service providers, Ability WA, starting as the Manager People and Culture, before being appointed General Manager People Strategy in October 2020.

Leah has a passion for working with people, supporting them to be their best and empowering teams to create great outcomes for marginalised and vulnerable people.

Her role at Ability WA took a very client-centred approach, focused on providing people with a disability and their carers with greater choice and flexibility in service delivery, as aligned with the new NDIS model.

At Ability Centre Leah was responsible for managing the employee life cycle from workforce planning/organisational design through to attraction, recruitment, on-boarding, performance management and development, and off-boarding for a workforce of in-excess of 1,000 people.

The workforce comprised allied health professionals (OT, speech pathologists, social workers, physiotherapists, clinical psychologists, PBS practitioners), specialist technicians, disability support workers, registered and enrolled nurses, employment consultants, and a varied range of corporate services and support roles.

Leah has extensive experience in people and brand, strategy and culture transformations within a diversity of workplaces, including the Community and Public Sector Union, NSW Department of Education and Training, BGC Contracting and the City of Wanneroo.

She has extensive knowledge of industrial relations and her practice in change management is supported by a Masters in Human Resource Management in 2016 and more recently in 2020 becoming a qualified Change Practitioner with a PROSCI certification.

Leah is passionate about human resources business partnering and helping customers to achieve their objectives through tailored people strategies.

A strong operations professional, her extensive skill set includes employee relations, employee engagement, stakeholder management, recruiting, and change management.
