Become a FDC Educator

Running a Family Dare Care is both a flexible and rewarding career choice. It enables educators to build a business from home and play a fundamental role in the lives of children under their care.

How to Apply

To become one of our Family Day Care educators, applicants must first fill and submit our online registration and membership form. 

Please note that you will need to attach a copy of your up-to-date resume to your submission.

Registration Process

Successful applicants must go through the following steps in order to become on our educators:

  1. The first interview: one of our service staff members ascertains your current level of child care knowledge, communication skills and commitment of prospective educators. The interview explains the potential income of our educators explains your business, financial and taxation responsibilities.
  2. The second interview: our service staff assess your knowledge, skills and practices in regards to providing family day care. They will also determine your current practices in caring for children, how you see the role of the family day care educator and your responsibilities in being a member of our service. There is an application fee of $50 valid for 6 months from Interview 2 onwards.
  3. The third appointment (home assessment): this appointment assesses the residences and approved venues of prospective educators to ensure that it meets all requirements for National Law and National Regulations. 
  4. The final appointment: If the home assessment is satisfactory, applicants will meet one of current educators at an education and care service. This appointment assesses the readiness of prospective educators working with children.


Applicants will have to undergo training and induction before they complete the final questionnaire which establishes their knowledge of our policies and procedures in order to start the operation of their Family Day Care business.

Am I eligible?

Prospective educators must be able to provide evidence of the following:

  • A minimum qualification of a Certificate III in Children Services;
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a National Police Clearance that is not older than six months;
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a Working with Children Check (WWCC);
  • Possession of a current Driver’s License;

All applicants must over 18 years of age and be a citizen or permanent resident of Australia.
