Make Your Move

Creating social links and community connections through physical activity initiatives.

Our Make Your Move program aims to provide individuals from targeted community groups with the opportunity to participate in flexible, community-based sport and physical activity projects to increase acceptance of diversity, build inclusive communities, and assist vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals and families to develop social links.

The program will deliver six sessions per week, over seven weeks, within the school term, repeated up to three times a year in the Perth South Metropolitan area as well as one school holiday program per year. Program activities may include swimming and water safety (female only sessions available), self defence, dance and aerobics, walking, ten pin bowling and lawn bowls and team sports such as football, basketball, soccer, tennis and indoor volleyball, to name a few.

The Benefits of Make Your Move

Make Your Move utilises sport and physical activities to help  improve people’s health and wellbeing and foster a strong sense of community belonging. By supporting people who are less likely to participate in regular sport or physical activity, our Make Your Move program will:

  • Encourage more people to take part in sport and physical activity,
  • Help to build resilient, cohesive and harmonious communities,
  • Increase community connections,
  • Assist disadvantaged people build social links and;
  • Promote diversity. 

Who Can Make Your Move Help?

Our Make Your Move program is available to: 

  • women and girls, 
  • Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CaLD) groups (namely newly arrived migrants and refugees), 
  • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and;
  • people with disabilities.

How Can Make Your Move be Accessed?

Access to our Make Your Move program can be via a self-referral, referral by a supporting agency or referral from another Communicare service.

Where is Make Your Move Located?

Our Make Your Move program operates from outreach based service delivery locations throughout the south east metropolitan including the Cities of Armadale, Belmont, Canning and Gosnells.
