The 2021 Hedland Careers Expo highlighted career possibilities available for students and community members in the Pilbara region.
Held at the North Regional TAFE, Pundulmurra Campus in late May, the annual expo connected Year 10, 11 and 12 students from local high schools to various employers operating in Port Hedland.
This year over 35 exhibitors including BHP, FMG, Roy Hill, TOPH, Relationship Australia, Headspace and WA Country Health joined forces with Bloodwood Tree to provide a space for local businesses, universities, government departments and community organisations to showcase their courses and programs.
Our Hedland Breathing Space manager, Megan Hastings, represented Communicare at the expo and enjoyed exchanging information with other services.
"I had so many wonderful conversations with our local community and was also able to speak to school students from Hedland High," Megan said.
The expo enabled students to explore recruitment options and served as a fantastic conversation starter with local community members to network with one another.
Megan believed that having an organisational presence there opened an opportunity to build rapport, contacts and trust within the Hedland community.
"The day was filled with positivity, excitement and support and the overwhelming offers from other services to either be involved or link in with our soon to be launched Hedland Breathing Space was incredible."
