On November 27, our Communicare team stood in solidarity with the Women's Council for Domestic and Family Violence (WCDFV) for the 30th annual Silent Domestic March.

The event paid tribute to those who lost their lives as a result of Family and Domestic Violence (FDV) and further reiterated the life-long devastating consequences it leaves on families and our society.

Over 600 people across multiple organisations attended, including special guests The Hon. Simone McGurk MLA, Glenda Kickett and Samuel-Yombitch Pilot-Kickett who conducted a Welcome To Country (WTC), as well as a performance by the Madjitil Moorna Choir.

In a moving speech, a survivor of FDV recounted the horrific acts of violence her previous partner committed and her fight to safeguard her children from the impact. Her courage in sharing her story served as an important reminder for victims not to remain silent.

At the event, stalls were set up for attendees to access information on FDV programs and services, and various other resources were provided outlining the staggering statistics on the reality of FDV in our communities.
