iCommunic8 Day took place on 23 July 2018 at The Rocks Church in Cannington.
This year, the all-staff conference was full of engaging presentations from each of our directorates, aspirational guest speakers and interactive team activities; all of which touched upon the theme of Celebrating our Diversity.
We had a 'cracking' start to the day with a traditional lion dance by GDPT Chanh Tin Lion Dancing Group.
This led into a warm Welcome to Country from Whadjuk/Balladong Noongar Elder, Freda Ogilvie, and aspirational messages from our Chairperson, the Hon. Jim McGinty and CEO, Melissa Perry.
Later in the day, Akram Azimia a refugee from Afghanistan shared his life story and his mentoring work with young Indigenous people in remote and rural Western Australia.
After lunch we will all ready for an hour of high energy African Drumming and Dancing with Akwaaba before we finished the day learning about cultural diversity in the workplace and inclusive practices; a participative workshop co-facilitated by Elizabeth Lang from Diversity Focus.
We know the event has left a lasting impression on the hearts and minds of everyone who participated.
