Children's Week 2018

Children's Week (19 – 26 October) is a national celebration of children's rights, talents and citizenship. In 2018 the focus for Children's Week was on the right for each child to have a say in matters that affect them, and for their views and opinions to be taken seriously.

The services and programs we offer to vulnerable families in our community and our organisation wide focus on ‘Keeping Vulnerable People Safe’, support all children and young people to be safe, happy, have choices and to be heard.

Children and young people have unique vulnerabilities and we all share in a responsibility to maximise their safety and wellbeing, both as professionals and as members of the community.

A commitment to support children to grow, learn and flourish in their development was reflected in WA's theme for Children's Week this year; Celebrate, Play, Discover. Our Children and Family Services Directorate were very pleased to have held their annual Children's Week Event at Cecil Ave, Cannington on Friday, 26 October.

The event focused on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) learning and showcased SciTech, REmida and Science Buzz as well as our own Early Years and Youth programs with activities to educate children and support connections to family.
