We are pleased to announced that the Communicare Academy has successfully completed White Ribbon Australia’s Breaking the Silence Program to become an accredited White Ribbon School.
The Academy commenced their accreditation process in 2016, introducing respectful relationships into the curriculum to raise staff and student awareness of Family and Domestic Violence (with a core focus around men’s violence towards women) and change the culture and environment of the school. The focus of the program was to achieve a zero tolerance of violence within the school, families and the broader community.
Through participation in workshops, and submission of case studies and presentations, Communicare Academy became officially recognised as a White Ribbon School on 22nd of February 2018. Their ongoing focus for 2018 will be to strengthen the White Ribbon culture within the School by continuing to raise awareness of Family and Domestic Violence through curriculum activities, participating in events in support of White Ribbon, and collaborating in activities with Communicare Breathing Space.
Communicare Academy’s achievement is an important component of our Organisation’s overall progress toward becoming an accredited White Ribbon Workplace. Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence, and providing support services to individuals effected by Family and Domestic Violence are core elements of Communicare’s work to sustain safety in the community.
