Covid-19 restrictions continue to get better for Western Australia and so do the good news stories that follow from our programs who have ramped up their creativity to continue servicing our communities.

When Covid-19 landed, the City of Gosnells and local collaborating partners were required to cancel plans involving a large-scale Families Week event which was scheduled for May 2020.

Communicare Parenting and Family services were involved in this collaboration, and together with other services discovered a different way to support families during this challenging time.

By re-purposing the allocated funding for family's week, the City of Gosnells prepared activity packs for children accessing local services within the area and this included our own programs such as Individual and Family Support Services, Parenting services and the Settle In program.

These packs are designed for children in between the ages of zero to five years and each contain various toys, stationary and bubble blowers.

Some are even packed with the well-known literacy programs' Better Beginnings bags and have already been used during family rhyme time sessions hosted by our members in Individual and Family Support Services.

This is another great example of strong local partnerships working together to support parents and families within our community and our teams look forward to further sharing these with the wonderful participants in our Children, Families and Community Directorate.
