Communicare recently hosted the Gosnells and Surrounds Children and Family Network meeting at our Cannington office alongside other local government agencies including The Smith Family, Mission Australia, Wanslea, Anglicare, City of Gosnells, Brookman Child and Parent ServiceSave the Children and Forest Lakes Family Centre.

This meeting takes place at the end of each quarter and is intended to update participating agencies on new programs and activities, share highlights from the previous term and changes to planning structures for the term to follow.

Eighteen service providers engaging with families and children in Gosnells and surrounds gathered together to discuss key trends and issues observed by within their service.

Through a diversified discussion, the group were able to dissect ideas and challenges, avoid any duplications in service delivery and better explore opportunities for future collaborative projects and events.

Members also discussed how to effectively support families with children who suffer from disorders, for example ADHA, as well as those experiencing financial hardship and health concerns from COVID-19.

Part of our organisational commitment to protecting children includes our capacity to improve and advance the services catered to them.

In lead to Children's Week at the end of this month and in light of the unprecedented year so far, it's increasingly important to ensure all children are protected and set up for the best outcomes in all areas of their lives regardless of their background, individual conditions or socio-economic status.

By participating in events like this, our frontline staff not only extend their connections within the sector but can also collaborate to better influence these outcomes.
