We always love sharing acts of kindness in our community, and this week we'd like to acknowledge the generosity of Perth construction company AWB Co's Director Graeme Kennedy who provided one of our clients with a brand-new pram for her 18-month old child.
Coming from a refugee background with a limited local support system, Yasmin* often felt isolated. On top this, she did not have a car to commute to and from her appointments and other everyday activities.
As a result, Yasmin* began participating in our Connected Communities program, an in-home parenting support service for families located in Mirrabooka and surrounding suburbs.
Aside from the struggles associated with settling into a new country, she was also balancing the challenges that came with parenting - and a big part of this was her inability to conveniently travel with her children.
That was until Mr Kennedy came across a social media post regarding Yasmin's need for a double pram – which he then purchased shortly after.
Since receiving this, life has been much easier for Yasmin. She has been able to spend time with her children while exercising outdoors - and even joined a playgroup recently, which has enabled her to connect with other families in the local community.
This is a noteable example of how a little bit of kindness can improve a life.
Well done to Parent Support Worker Zoe Hughes, who helped make this happen.
