Communicare’s Everyday Elves Workshop aims to create social and economic inclusion for children and families all year round.

The most basic element of sport is people coming together to play. Sport helps break down barriers and builds bridges where boundaries usually exist.

Sports can create inclusive spaces in society, no matter what age a child is or whether they are able-bodied or disabled. It also doesn’t discriminate against children regardless of their religion, ethnicity or socio-economic status.

In fact, social inclusion is an important “determinant of health” – without inclusion, people are more likely to experience poor health (including mental health), loneliness, isolation, and low self-esteem.

Unfortunately, the cost of sports registration, uniforms and sporting equipment has grown exponentially which means a rise in social and financial exclusion for some West Australian children and families.

Our Everyday Elves workshop aims to combat this and with your help, we won’t only help children across the state stay physically and mentally fit but will provide them with the opportunity to thrive by fostering a sense of belonging and inclusivity.
