Financial aid will now extend into West Australia's northern suburb of Wanneroo, as Commmunicare welcomes three new recruits to the Financial Counselling Network
This is the first time Financial Counselling will be available in Wanneroo's local community, with the expansion following an exclusive increase in the State Government's funding for the service due to COVID-19.
Financial Counsellors play an integral role in assisting individuals and families experiencing financial hardship, in the aim of strengthening a client's ability to manage their own financial stability and decision making.
The core of this work includes income analysis, budgeting advice and advocating with creditors on the client's behalf for those unable to repay or manage their debt obligations.
Communicare is one of 12 agencies delivering financial counselling services in the Perth metropolitan area, and form part of a partnership with other not-for-profit community service and local government organisations across the region.
Karen Hailstones, Marissa Martin and Roslyn Retallick will join existing counsellors including Victoria Shakeshaft and Deborah Laidler for the next 12 months.
- Karen will be located in Wanneroo supporting the local community
- Roslyn will be located at Mirrabooka doing outreach service with Deborah Laidler in the new Stirling FDV Hub – Naala Djookan Healing Centre
- Marissa will be doing outreach at the William Langford Community House and supporting the local Cannington community along with Victoria
