On 22 November, CEO Melissa Perry and the Executive Team officially opened our Mid-West Community Services Hub based in Geraldton.
As part of Communicare’s place-based community strategic initiative, our Mid-West Services team work closely with the local community and legal professionals including the Barndimalgu Court to offer a broad range of services that address local priorities and build on existing services and supports.
Communicare Mid-West Community Services, led by Manager Mid-West Services, Kyalie Moore provide a central space for individuals, families and children from Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal backgrounds to access services and resources delivered by caring and experienced facilitators who have local knowledge.
Kyalie and her team deliver three Communicare programs, including:
- Connect and Respect
- Inclusion Support.
Through the Connect and Respect, funded by the State Government's Department of Justice, they assist perpetrators of family and domestic violence by providing specialist rehabilitation as well as positively contributing to family, culture and community. The ParentsNext program supports eligible parents to plan and prepare for employment by the time their children go to school and the Inclusion Support (IS) program assists Early Childhood and Child Care (ECCC
) services across the Mid-West to build their capacity and capability to include children with additional needs in mainstream services; providing them with an opportunity to learn and develop alongside their typically developing peers.
Grouping these complimentary community services into a one-stop shop for residents across the Mid-West targets the community as a whole and aims to address issues that exist at a local level, improving community inclusion and safety.
