Our HIPPY Gosnells Team are very excited to be commencing the HIPPY Age 3 Pilot Program to ten families this week.
Following on from the success of the existing Age 4 and 5 programs, our Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters (HIPPY) Gosnells Coordinator, Nola Earnshaw, has been working diligently for the past 18 months as a member of the writing and reference group; contributing knowledge and experience to shape the development of the Age 3 Program Pilot curriculum. A month ago, on February 11th
, Nola joined the other nine coordinators of the pilot from across the country at the two-day training seminar in Melbourne, workshopping the implementation phase.
Sandra Andrews, from HIPPY Australia said, “Age 3 HIPPY is about celebrating the joys of being three,” and hence the Age 3 Pilot Program recognises play-based learning to further develop thinking, communication, creativity and social and emotional intelligence. One HIPPY Participant commented, “I’m very happy this pilot has come along because my 3-year-old is so ready to learn.” Our Age 3 HIPPY Mentor, Israa Sedda said of the first week, “I am excited to start my professional life with HIPPY, to receive training and knowledge and to share it with other families”.
Our HIPPY program and this pilot work to offer hope and equality by supporting families participating in HIPPY to achieve through a love of learning. HIPPY builds the confidence and skills of parents and carers to create a positive learning environment to prepare their child for school as well as offering parents and carers a supported pathway to employment; fostering local community leadership.
Good luck to all the families and HIPPY Mentors for this year’s pilot!
