Today we congratulate Monique and wish her all the best in her retirement. Monique has dedicated 19 years of service supporting our local community, in particular, in recent years, Educators in our Family Day Care Service. Monique joined us in October 2000 and during her time has felt very fortunate to be able to work in a positive team culture with a very diverse group of passionate professionals who inspire each other to ensure the best outcomes for the children and families who utilise our services.

Before she dusts off the ivories and pulls out her silkscreens, Monique took some time out to tell us about her last 19 years.

Q1. What has been the most interesting thing about working at Communicare and about the work that you have done?
The people and the diversity of the programs are what make Communicare such an interesting workplace. It is evident that our employees are absolutely committed and dedicated to our organisational values. Our Family Day Care (FDC) Team in particular support Educators to fulfill their obligations to ensure our service provides a high quality program. The rating of Exceeding the National Standard is a reflection of our FDC team and the amazing Educators we work with.

Q2. What are three benefits you’ve discovered about working at Communicare?
i) The opportunities to work alongside our teams from all across our business.

ii) Being valued for the work we undertake including mentoring opportunities and professional development being highly valued for our own personal growth for example; the many conferences I have had the opportunity to attend.

iii) Our Leadership including Katie Price’s laugh; she a ‘hoot’.

Q3. When you tell people about your job, what’s the one thing that surprises them, or gets them excited about the work you do?
Educational Leaders delight in having the opportunity to spend time with children. We’re able to immerse ourselves in children’s play and, as we know, children are very curious and don’t have much of a filter, therefore, when it comes to their communication, it’s often ‘out of the mouths of babes’. We always leave with a smile!

Q4. What will you miss the most about Communicare?
Our people, from the amazing team I work alongside to the Educators we support and the children in their care.

Q5. What have you got planned in your retirement?
Travel, volunteering, getting back into playing my piano and my love of art. More exercise and spending more time with my family and friends too.

Q6. Any last parting comments?
As a long serving employee, I am constantly reminded of the importance of the work we undertake. Our organisation has always had an innovative vision to provide a wealth of programs to the community to encourage, support and empower our clients. I am grateful that I have been able to work for Communicare and contribute towards a greater sense of belonging within our local communities.

Sincerely, thank you Monique for your loyalty, your commitment and your contributions.
