During Child Protection Week and in lead up to Childrens' week, Communicare's parenting and family teams have been circulating awareness on the importance of preserving childrens' rights and the responsibility we hold to shield their safety in all places and situations.
This is part of our organisational commitment and is especially pertinent now as we complete various steps within our Child Safe accreditation journey.
Our Family Support Network (FSN) provides integrated and coordinated secondary support to families living in complex situations so they can keep their children safe at home, and this year, the team brought attention to this responsiblity by hosting a sausage sizzle for local families in the South Metropolitan area.
This event was in partnership with Uniting WA and Cockburn Youth Centre, where parents were able to socialise, appreciate the spring weather and eat good food whilst their children played with others and participated in arts and crafts acitivities. All families also received goodie bags and information on the FSN service.
'Putting children first' was the message for this year's Childrens' Week campaign and it is something Communicare aims to champion daily.
