As we settle into the second half of an eventful year, we can't go without acknowledging some of the performance achievements across our directorates, and amongst this is our Employment Services ParentsNext program.
The ParentsNext teams this year to date have exceeded key performance indicators (KPI's) of attendance, participation, employment and early school leavers.
ParentsNext connects with 2000 clients across the South Metropolitan, North Metropolitan and Midwest (Geraldton) and operates out of six main locations including Armadale, Cannington, Geraldton, Joondalup, Kwinana and Midland plus nine outreach locations - Butler, Scarborough, Morley, Ellenbrook, Cloverdale, Success, Byford, Rockingham and Mandurah.
ParentsNext aims to empower parents with young children to reach their education and employment goals through participation activities and ongoing support and program facilitators work alongside clients to develop their job ready skills.
One element of this incorporates the use of 'work stars'– a tool determining the current personal and professional positioning of a person within their desired field of employment and progression levels are measured over time.
Each work star includes seven specific areas considered to be highly admired amongst various industries and these include the following:
1. Jobs skills and experience
2. Aspiration and motivation
3. Job search skills
5. Basic skills
6. Workplace and social skills
7. Health and wellbeing
Through reviewed processes, improved efficiency and capability within the team, the ParentsNext teams have built a strong foundation which has led to increased client conversion rates and referrals to our Communicare Registered Training Organisation (RTO) for the ParentsYES pre-employability course.
Together with the recent increase in service delivery for Commmunicares' Transition to Work (TtW) team, both these programs have broadened our organisation's capacity to continue inspiring and seeing people attain their employment and education outcomes.
