Communicare's Jobs and Skills (JAS) student, Warrick, has secured full-time employment with Acu-Tech Piping Systems – a leading manufacturer and supplier of high performance, thermoplastic pipe systems and solutions.

The 17-year-old applied for the role after completing our Jobs and Skills program – a 10-week intensive course in which students are supported to attain a Certificate II in General Education for Adults (CGEA). This qualification provides a range of educational opportunities for young people to increase their participation in the community and the workplace.

Warrick's interests in moving into the mining industry motivated him to enrol in our Jobs and Skills program, where he gained insights into industry qualifications and learned hands-on skills such as writing application letters and preparing for job interviews.

Communicare's Training and Development Officer, Jane Robson, who facilitated the program at the time, commended Warrick on his positive attitude, exemplary attendance and keenness to succeed.

"Warrick's positive attitude and desire to make a change in his life were key factors to his success. He worked hard every day and he has now taken the first step towards a career in mining. It has been highly rewarding to see Warrick make the changes in his life he so strongly desired."

Acu-Tech were impressed with Warrick having already attained his Work Health and Safety unit which he completed during his time with the Communicare Jobs and Skills program.

Warrick will work at Acu-Tech's state-of-the-art 40,000 m2 facilities, assisting in the production of piping for the mining industry, agriculture, plumbing and electrical communications. This role will provide Warrick with the opportunity to receive his forklift licence and build experience that will give him confidence, knowledge and skills needed to pursue a career in mining.

The team at Communicare RTO and the wider Communicare community are excited to watch Warrick's career with great interest and wishes Warrick the very best for his new adventure.
