We have welcomed State Government funding for a second Communicare Breathing Space residential service.
The service, which is due to start mid-2019, is to be located in Cannington, Western Australia.
"A fundamental philosophy behind Communicare Breathing Space is the safety of women and children, and we regard partner safety as a key component of our service delivery model," says our Chief Executive Officer, Melissa Perry.
"We welcome the government's initiative in funding perpetrator accountability programs."
The Communicare Breathing Space was the first residential family and domestic violence men's behaviour change program in the souther hemisphere. It commenced operations in June 2003 and has been developed as an alternative to removing women and children from their family home.
Over the past 15 years, more than 1,000 men have been assisted to change their behaviour through Communicare Breathing Space, increasing the safety and wellbeing of thousands of women and children.
