Stonie Barlow has been registered as a job seeker with us since November 2016. His story of successfully gaining and retaining employment through Communicare is a result of a positive attitude perserverance and resilience.
Stonie is 21 years of age, and growing up he experienced family violence at the hands of his mother’s partner. He left school in Year 9 with few prospects and found himself in trouble with the police on a couple of occasions. Stonie had been terminated from his last employer, the Australian Container Unloading Group, where he worked as a container unloader.
After working with his Employment Consultant at our Cannington site, it was identified that Stonie could benefit from participating in our Employability Skills Training. Stonie took to this willingly, and really excelled himself, as he really developed his time management, organisational and communication skills.
After gaining newfound confidence from all that he had learned on this course, Stonie was more motivated than ever to return to the workforce.
Stonie was offered his old role at the Australian Container Unloading Group back on a casual basis, and is continuing to work alongside our staff at Cannington to source more permanent employment.
We would like to congratulate Stonie on regaining his old role. We are very proud to see that his time with our Cannington team has broken down barriers to retaining employment and provided him with a direction in his life.
