Communicare are currently finalising negotiations to acquire White Ribbon Australia’s intellectual property and remaining assets.
We are hopeful that these negotiations will conclude by the end of February 2020, and the White Ribbon Australia movement can begin its next chapter.
As you may be aware the White Ribbon Australia movement operates in over 60 countries and we couldn’t imagine Australia without a White Ribbon campaign. It’s a movement which aligns with Communicare’s values and reflects our long-standing commitment to eliminating violence against women and children.
Over many years White Ribbon Australia has built a considerable profile with communities and stakeholders around the country, highlighting the need for boys and men to be engaged in this challenge.
We have an opportunity to build on this platform, whilst enhancing the collaborative nature of the White Ribbon Australia movement. Our focus will be on re-engaging with the community and tremendous network of people and organisations committed to reducing gendered violence.
Even as the contract of sale is being finalised, we have been engaging with supporters, partners and stakeholders to better understand what’s working well and what needs a reset. We have also begun the important process of finding a new Executive Director of White Ribbon Australia by appointing Kennedy Austin, Executive Search Consultants.
We hope this crucial leadership position will be in place soon, which will enable the movement to build its profile and advocacy efforts.
We are keen to hear from you about your experiences with White Ribbon Australia and what you would like to see the organisation focus on. In early March we intend to publish a Stakeholder Consultation Paper on the White Ribbon Australia website and invite direct submissions or participation in a brief survey to help us better understand your views.
