Our Everyday Elves Workshop was a hive of activity over the Christmas period, creating joy for children and families struggling to make ends meet at what should be one of the happiest times of the year.

The Workshop is a place where our passionate and dedicated volunteers – our Everyday Elves - distribute the generous donations we receive from our corporate partners and the wider community, not only at Christmas, but throughout the year.

This festive season we had 14 volunteers join us from mid-November until Christmas Eve, contributing a total of 157 hours of time to sort toys, pack ‘Santa Sacks’ and generally keep the Workshop humming.

In addition, our ‘Elves at Home’ were also busy sewing-up a storm, creating over 250 beautiful Santa Sacks to be filled with toys and other goodies as part of our annual Christmas Appeal

Our industrious Elves at Home included:
  • The Communicare Sewing Group (held every Friday),
  • Communicare staff members,
  • Community sewing groups,
  • Boronia Women’s Pre-release Prison,
  • Members of the public, and
  • Various volunteers.
A special shout-out to the women at the Boronia Women’s Pre-release Prison who generously sewed and donated 60 Santa Sacks as an activity as part of their community re-entry program.

What I like most about volunteering for Everyday Elves is the enormous generosity of donors and that the gifts are specially hand-picked for the kids who receive them.

I really enjoy volunteering for a good cause through the Everyday Elves Workshop. It was so nice to work with a supportive team and Lesley’s guidance was very helpful. I would also like to thank Communicare for providing me with this amazing opportunity, which was my first volunteering experience here in Perth.
