Prominent former W.A. politician James (Jim) McGinty has accepted an invitation to be the Chairperson of the Board of Management.
Jim was an ALP member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly from 1990 to 2009, representing the district of Fremantle.
He was the Labor Party leader and Leader of the Opposition from 1994 to 1996, and also served as a Minister, most notably as Attorney-General, in the governments of Carmen Lawrence, Geoff Gallop and Alan Carpenter.
In addition to his new role at Communicare, Mr McGinty is a volunteer with Fremantle Sea Rescue and is a member of the Independent Media Council. He also sits on the boards of Brightwater Care Group and Access Housing.
Mr McGinty was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 2013 in recognition of his contribution to law reform and the Parliament of Western Australia, and in 2003 was awarded the Centenary Medal.
“We are delighted to attract someone of Jim’s calibre to Chair our Board of Management," said Communicare CEO Melissa Perry.
