iCommunic8 Day 2018 took place on the 17th of July 2018 at The Rocks Church in Cannington.
This year, the all-staff conference was full of engaging presentations from each of our directorates, aspirational guest speakers and interactive team activities; all of which touched upon the theme of innovation and fostering an ideas culture within our organisation.
Our first guest for the day was Theo Kearing and his Binjareb Middars Dance Group from the Billyduk tribe of Pinjarra. Theo presented our Welcome to Country and then played the didgeridoo whilst his dance team weaved a story for us.
Later in the day Gavin Read from HBF hosted a group stretching session. We hope that after the activity, all of our staff were ready to give their stretch bands a go at home!
Nate Sturcke, Managing Director of Skills of the Modern Age (SOMA) gave a presentation about Creating an Innovation Culture. As a passionate educator and advocator of the local Perth startup and innovation community, Nate has presented on this topic to many organisations, inspiring people to work together.
Lastly, Dr Lianne Cretney-Barnes, Director of Board Connexions hosted our innovation workshop which introduced us all to Open Space Technology; a powerful approach to connecting and strengthening innovation our organisation.
We hope the event left a lasting impression on the hearts and minds of all staff that attended.
