Y-Tech is a technology-based initiative to bridge the digital divide for young people. It’s based on the premise that everyone should have access to digital technologies despite socio-economic challenges.
The goal of Y-Tech is to provide our young people with digital technologies to access employment and education opportunities.
32% of young people from low socio-economic backgrounds do not have access to the internet at home, and 18% do not have access to a computer.
It goes beyond simply owning a computer or having access to a smartphone, it means:
- Using online and mobile technologies to improve skills,
- Undertaking education and employment in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM),
- Promote wellbeing through social-inclusion and,
- Sustainable development across the whole of society.
