Providing advice and guidance to support individuals to thrive in the community
Individual and Family Support Service (IFSS) provides programs and activities to help individuals and families connect with their community, build confidence and knowledge and offer support for current challenges and issues people may be facing. IFSS offers one-on-one consultations to help individuals build on their strengths, respond to specific issues and challenges, and support them to connect with other resources in the community. IFSS also offers group work through life skills groups, multicultural playgroups, and community education. Some of the programs and activities conducted through IFSS are:
Individual Consultations
Individual consultations are one-on-one sessions for people who require assistance, information, or referrals to more specialist support services, to manage current challenges and issues they may be facing.
Group Work and Community Education
IFSS group work and community education sessions focus on a range of life skills and personal development classes. The topics covered in community education are based on trends found during one-on-one consultations. Popular topics include English and life skills, family rhyme time, women’s and children’s health and wellbeing.
Supported Multicultural Playgroups
IFSS supported multicultural playgroups are not only a fun way for families to bond, but they also provide opportunities for children, their parents, carers, and grandparents to expand their networks and connect with other families. IFSS playgroups help develop the social skills and confidence of family members and children, and an experienced playgroup leader can support individuals and families with referrals to additional family support services.
