Man comforting another man

Connect and Respect is a program committed to enhancing the safety of women, children, and men across Western Australia

The program works with individuals who have been charged with acts of abuse and violence and aim to engage with and support those who have been impacted by their actions.

Women’s Advocates within the program play a crucial role to support victim-survivors of abuse and violence. They provide information on the behaviour change process and help individuals understand what they may observe or experience as a result of their partner’s, ex-partner’s, or family member’s engagement. Women’s Advocates also conduct risk assessments, create safety plans, and refer individuals to other services as needed.

Connect and Respect is built around the foundation that ending violence against all people is achievable. The program focuses on building people’s awareness of relationship violence and its lasting effects across generations. Aiming to improve people’s emotional regulation skills and decision-making abilities and encourage accountability for their behaviour is also a key focus of the program.

Connect and Respect is funded by the Department of Justice and delivered in partnership with Anglicare WA.
