Our integrated services aim to build community safety and community inclusion for all West Australians. We work in alliance with government, non-government and a wide range of corporate organisations to deliver vital community support services to individuals, families and communities in need.

CHILDREN’S SERVICES

Family Day Care

Our Family Day Care service supports a network of Educators providing education and care for children in their own home as their own business.

Get Active Project

Our Get Active Project works collaboratively with young people aged 5 to 18 years old, State sporting associations and sports clubs, providing pathway programs to build inclusive sporting environments to increase participation.

Get Active Project – Active Schools

An initiative of our Get Active Project, Active Schools, works in partnership with targeted culturally and linguistically diverse secondary schools to increase the physical activity rates of secondary school students and improve connections between schools and sporting clubs.

Inclusion Support Program

Our WA Inclusion Agency delivers the Inclusion Support Program in partnership with One Tree Community Services and Wanslea; supporting eligible Early Childhood and Child Care services with advice, strategies and specialist equipment loans to be inclusive of all children, including those with high support needs.

Out of School Hours Care

Our Out of School Hours Care facility, based in Riverton, offers before and after school care services for students attending selected local primary schools with a free bus service, shuttling students to and from school.

Vacation Care

Our Vacation Care program, based in Riverton, operates during school holidays, offering entertaining and exciting care for children aged 4 to 12 including a variety of incursions and excursions.

FAMILY SERVICES

Building a Balance

Our Building a Balance program is a free counselling service supporting young people and their families to experiencing disruptive behaviours and works to improve family functioning.

Communities for Children

Our Communities for Children program supports families with children aged pre-birth to 12 years, in the Armadale and surrounding areas, to collaboratively provide better health and wellbeing outcomes for local children in partnership with community partner organisations.

Family Support Services

Our Family Support Services provide tailored support to meet the needs of families in the local south east metropolitan area to build their strengths to respond to specific challenges or connect them with appropriate community support resources.

Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters (HIPPY)

Our HIPPY program is a home-based early learning and parenting program that works alongside parents in Armadale and Gosnells to equip them with the skills at home to become their child’s first teacher and support their school readiness.

Indigenous Advancement Strategy

Our Indigenous Advancement Strategy program works alongside Indigenous families and local schools to build the educational capacity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students; collaboratively improving their school attendance and literacy and numeracy levels.

Parents and Babies Groups

Our Parents and Babies Groups are weekly sessions during school terms, based in Bentley and Cannington, for new parents to attend with their newborns to share experiences, get parenting information, connect with community support agencies and enjoy parenthood.

South East Metro Parent Support Service

Our South East Metro Parenting Support Service, in partnership with Save the Children, aims to support families to access parenting help including parenting programs, information sessions, group work and individual consultations, to strengthen their parenting skills and assist them to thrive as parents.

Connected Communities Mirrabooka

Our Connected Communities Mirrabooka program provides free in-home support for parents with children aged birth to 12 years who are experiencing issues including challenging behaviours and low levels of school attendance. The program aims to strengthen families and communities through the provision links to community support services and free parenting courses to help parents understand their children’s needs, behaviours and their own role as a parent.

Family and Relationship Services

Our Family and Relationship Services provides a range of programs focused on strengthening family relationships, building parenting and financial management skills and developing greater community connections to support families, children’s wellbeing, young people, multicultural communities and other individuals with special circumstances.

Supported Multicultural Playgroups

Our Supported Multicultural Playgroups are weekly sessions during school terms, based in Bentley and Cannington, which empower families to support young children’s development through the opportunity to participate in a variety of developmentally appropriate play experiences and activities.

EDUCATION SERVICES

Communicare Academy

Our Communicare Academy is an independent, Curriculum and Re-Engagement with Education (CaRE) secondary school committed to assisting at-risk students to re-engage with their education. Based in Kenwick, and with a focus on student’s wellbeing, our school provides a challenging and inspiring educational experience designed to support young people to succeed.

Psychology Board of Australia Approved Supervisor’s Training

On behalf of the Psychology Board of Australia we deliver the training program to support applicants to become Board-approved supervisors or maintain current Board-approved supervisor status. Our training program ensures supervisors are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to provide competency-based supervision to supervisees.

Registered Training Organisation

As a Registered Training Organisation we deliver vocational education and training services which provide quality-assured and nationally recognised qualifications. Currently, through the Communicare Academy, we offer certificates in General Education for Adults, Hospitality and Beauty Therapy.

Alternative Education Program

The Alternative Education Program supports severely at-risk young people of compulsory school age who are disengaged from, and may not be effectively catered for, to reconnect with mainstream school environments.

EMPLOYMENT SERVICES

A Global Workforce

Our A Global Workforce program is a pilot that works alongside underemployed skilled migrants to assist them to find employment in their qualified profession. Support includes job application seminars, local work experience opportunities and mentoring.

As a jobactive employment services provider, we support job seekers to find, prepare for and remain in meaningful employment. Assistance includes individualised support, job search and job application techniques, employability skills training and connection to real work-like experiences.

Psychological Services for Job Seekers

Our experienced team of qualified psychological professionals provide counselling and assessment services to job seekers to assist them identify and address their barriers to employment.

Transition to Work

Our Transition to Work program targets early school leavers and young people, supporting them to understand the expectations of modern workplaces, develop the skills, attitudes and behaviours employers desire and build the practical knowledge to secure employment. Support services include vocational education and training, internship opportunities and participation in work-like experiences.

Work for the Dole Coordination

Our Work for the Dole Coordinators support not-for-profit organisations and government agencies to host suitable Work for the Dole activities for job seekers that provide them with extra assistance and job seekers real work-like experiences.

Community Initiatives

Community Initiatives are Work for the Dole projects that place job seekers in well-matched activities to support them gaining skills and experience that increase their employability and helps them find a job whilst giving back to the community.

ParentsNext

ParentsNext is a pre-employment program aimed at parents with young children. The program works with parents in assisting them to identify and reach their education and employment goals.

FAMILY VIOLENCE & JUSTICE SERVICES

Communicare Breathing Space

Communicare Breathing Space is our unique residential men’s behaviour change program which supports men to make long-term behavioural changes after they have been abusive in their intimate partner or family relationships. An alternative to removing women and children form the family home, the program provides participants with six months accommodation and support whilst they undertake an intensive therapeutic program.

Families Without Fear

Our Families Without Fear program provides support to both men and women who identify as having used abusive and violent behaviours in their relationships and who wish to make sustainable positive changes to improve their relationships. Support is provided as group intervention sessions for men and individual consultations for women.

Program Type: Funded by the Government of Western Australia Department of Justice for court mandated referrals; Fee for Service for community and self-referrals


Indigenous Family Violence Program

Our Indigenous Family Violence program supports men to address violence within Indigenous families in WA’s mid-west. The program works alongside mandated participants to cover topics such as the cultural context of violence, intergenerational aspects of violence, anger management, substance abuse, relationship equality and Indigenous spiritual healing.

Partnerships for Family Safety

Our Partnerships for Family Safety program supports the partners affected by violence or abuse inflicted by a participant in one of our men’s behaviour change programs. The program works to empower women through a consented phone service which ensures they are connected to their community with safety planning, referrals to appropriate support services and women’s advocacy.

Pathways to Responsible Living

Our Pathways to Responsible Living program works alongside participants in Greenough Regional Prison; supporting them address their substance abuse to minimise the likelihood of reoffending.

Safe at Home Domestic Violence Outreach

Our Safe at Home Domestic Violence Outreach program provides telephone support to help men who wish to make sustained positive behavioural changes, breaking the cycle of violence and how they relate to their partners, ex-partners and children through the development of respectful relationships and linkages to support services which promote safety and behaviour change.

Tuart House

Our Tuart House facility, situated in WA’s south-west, supports women and their children who are homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness as a result of family and domestic violence. Our therapeutic community provides emergency accommodation and creates a space for women and their children to feel safe and empowered to rebuild their lives.

SETTLEMENT SERVICES

Complex Case Support Program

Our Complex Case Support program provides specialised and intensive case management services to refugees and humanitarian entrants with exceptional needs that extend beyond their initial settlement supports. The program works to help newly arrived refugees and humanitarian entrants address their barriers to settling in Australia.

Multicultural Women’s Group

Our Multicultural Women’s Group provides women from all cultural backgrounds the opportunity to come together, connect with the community and make new friends to minimise social isolation. Our groups encourage health and wellbeing and personal and social development.

Settlement Service Activities

Our Settlement Service Activities build the capacity of newly arrived refugees and humanitarian entrants to begin their new lives in Australia by supporting them to actively participate in their local community through the provision of individually tailored case work, referral and advocacy support, education and employment training information workshops and translating and interpretation services.
