Parenting Support Services

We ensure those in a parenting role receive the assistance they need to manage the everyday challenges of raising children.

The South East Metro Parenting Support Service (SEMPSS) assists parents and caregivers maintain the wellbeing and development of their children by building on their knowledge, skills and confidence.

Support is directly given to parents and carers with children in between the ages of 0-18 years, through individual consultations, education workshops and group-based parenting programs.

SEMPSS offers programs and accredited workshops across a range of parenting topics including parent-child relationships, attachment, behavior, emotional regulation, sleep, feeding, toileting and play and development.

Our support is tailored to the individual needs of parents and carers. This can involve:
  • Individual consultation;
  • One off information sessions;
  • Topic-specific parenting workshops;
  • Facilitated peer group meetings;
  • Referral to more specialist services as needed.

SEMPSS is delivered in partnership with Save the Children who can provide culturally appropriate in-home support to Aboriginal families as well as families who come from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds (CaLD).

Services are free and no referral is needed if you are a parent or carer.  For agencies referring families, please complete a “Request for Service” form. See here.
